Service Providers

Heather Young, MA, LPC, ACS

My goal is to make therapy approachable and collaborative, helping you discover new skills, strengths, and perspectives in a safe, welcoming space. For nearly 20 years, I have been providing compassionate and skilled mental health support to my clients, walking alongside them through some of the hardest parts of their journey. I have worked with individuals and families, doing in-home therapy, crisis counseling, and outpatient care. Specializing in deep insight-oriented trauma counseling with practical emotional regulation techniques, I have helped my clients navigate through challenging life circumstances with empathy and expertise. I find passion and joy in partnering with my clients to reach their potential because I know that healed people show up in the world with greater capacity for wholeness.

What Brings Me Joy

I am happily married and have four wonderful kids! I love animals and keep very busy caring for two dogs, one cat, one rabbit, and several chickens. In my free time, I love to cook and bake, read, garden, camp, hike, ski, and spend time with those I love the most. I feel most alive when I am in nature and believe in the deep healing that can occur when we listen to the world around us.

Milo

Milo is a 5-year-old English Shepherd/Goldendoodle mix who joined the practice in 2021 after earning his Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He’s friendly, intuitive, and incredibly smart.  He takes his therapy work very seriously!

Milo gives his all during sessions, so don’t be surprised if he needs to recharge with a nap. At 75 lbs, he’s a solid, fluffy presence in the room — and yes, he does shed a bit!

How Milo Communicates

Milo is wonderfully expressive. He uses small barks and low grumbles to share everything from excitement to hesitation. Don’t worry — we’re happy to help you learn how to “speak Milo.”

A Few Things to Know

Just like people, dogs have different comfort levels and personal space preferences. Milo is allowed on the couch, but he may not snuggle with every client — and that’s okay! There are lots of ways to connect with him:

  • Gentle petting
  • Brushing
  • Teaching him a new trick
  • A “walk and talk” session

Milo looks forward to meeting you and being part of your journey — whether that means active engagement or simply keeping you company while he snoozes nearby. 🐶💛

    Ruthie

Ruthie is a 2-year-old mini Goldendoodle who joined the practice in 2025. She’s currently in training for her Canine Good Citizen test and proudly holds the title of “youngest child,” complete with some very adorable puppy vibes.

Ruthie is friendly, affectionate, and wonderfully intuitive. She can also be a little shy at first and may take some time to build a sense of safety and trust with new people. Once you’ve earned her trust, she’s all in offering sweet snuggles and, if you allow it, enthusiastic ear kisses.

At just 20 lbs, Ruthie is a small but mighty presence and she doesn’t shed!

    A Few Things to Know

Just like people, dogs have different comfort levels and personal space bubbles. Ruthie is allowed on the couch, but she may not snuggle with every client right away — and that’s okay. Building safety matters to her.

Other ways to connect with Ruthie include:

    • Gentle petting
    • Teaching her a new trick
    • A “walk and talk” session

Ruthie can’t wait to meet you — whether that means playful energy, quiet companionship, or slowly building a connection that ends in snuggles. 💕
